What's a Quiver?

Today’s communication tools make surfboards designs travel at a speed of light spreading seeds around the world, inspiring shapers and making surfers mindful of the different options out there.
Batches of boards with increments of inches are part of the past. The definition of quiver is getting different interpretations; surfers are reinventing the concept of what is a quiver. Choosing boards by the design and way they approach waves.
The fact is that this "Fun"ctiontal Quivers are making us happier, having a blast in every session.

beautiful!! where i live i get negative responses from most surfers about this new era of surfboard design, like the thicker wider fish i ride is for a girl and my rainbow is for " i'm not going to say", just to be respectful and not use stereotypes, i couldn't be happier with all this, i wish it happened 10 years ago, free your mind and your boards will follow, an open mind is a terrible thing to waste
It's all about the fun.
Work with what you got, and when you nail it ... there's always something different to explore.
Nice quivers by the way ;)
Yeah Assembling the perfect quiver is a quest and a motivation to scan craigslist for boards.
For the first 15 of my 20 years of surfing I rode nothing but the same board. 6'4" thrusters. Use it till it wore out then get one of the same. Maybe a little thinner or what not as the trends changed. How boring!
Last 5 years or so my eyes have been open. So much more rewarding to ride what fits the condition or a mood. Plus with less time to surf I have to ride whatever is present that day.
Here is my strategy/quiver:
Ankle to waist-high = 9'6" noserider log
waist to head high = 6 ft double bump quad fish or 5.6 twin keel fish
head high to 2Xhead = 6.5 quad or 6.6 thruster
over 2Xhead = drive to something smaller or just watch!
Hmm if I only had a bonzer in there???? Always some way to change it up.
Cool post-Love the Danny Hess Quiver.
Great post! I have ridden and continue to ride long boards, short boards, fish, bonzers, hulls and thrusters. Currently I have been having a blast on my neumatic surf mat. Kind on like a quiver in a bag. I got asked if I was riding an inflatable dog bed once! Nice site I check it daily.
Hey Guys, thanks for your feedback.
Definitely there's something going on for a while now.
Shapers are becoming very creative and people more curious. They bring whatever they have for each session and share boards.
Usualy where I surf there's a pile off surf-crafts in the sand for anyone's pleasure...
This blog is really looking good.
I like to ride one board for a time and stay with it in most conditions (except San-o) where I'll ride a fatty.
the right board for the right condition...i can`t do it.Each session require at least two board ridden, for the fun of it. Exchanging boards in the water with your buddie is a real buzz.
Good blog
